Paphos: Love and Beauty at Every Level

Placed at the west coast of the island country Cyprus, Paphos sits and is steeped in culture and history. According to Greek Mythology Paphos is the birthplace of Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty. The town has been included in the World Heritage committee because of its cultural and natural treasures, other than Paphos beach that is.

Paphos was seized by the Arcadians after the historic siege of Troy. Saul who then became Paul of Tarsus is said to have visited Paphos and converted the then Roman governor to Christianity according to the Acts of the Apostles. Stories like those explain why Paphos is considered such a cultural haven.

 

Modern Paphos is now fast becoming a favourite tour destination with a lot of money being poured into the development of facilities to help tourism such as road, hotels and restaurants. With these new constructions interest is only going to get stronger extremely beautiful town.
Located near the sea people are starting to roll out their towels and head to Paphos beach along the long stretch of coastline. As with a lot of destinations Paphos beach offers a lot of fun water related activities such as diving, jet skiing, parasailing, snorkelling and boat trips. With picturesque scenery and beautifully clear waters it makes the place a very attractive destination.


As you can imagine due to the massive history to Paphos there are many museums and information centre to get your fill of culture. There are water parks or you can hire a car and hit the road and do your own exploring of the wild outskirts of the area.

The town has moved on from becoming a hot spot of historical importance and now draws people to its shores for Paphos beach instead.
